HUNTINGTON LEARNING CENTER NAMED # 1
(Oradell, NJ) Huntington Learning Center has been honored by FranNet with the #1 Partner of the Year Performance Award. A FranNet partner since 1996, Huntington Learning Center is one of the nation's most recognized and respected supplemental education franchises, with more than 300 centers across the nation.
Huntington Learning Center, founded in 1977, is celebrating its 30th anniversary as the nation’s longest-running supplemental education services provider, and a pioneer and leader in the franchise learning center arena. Huntington provides instruction in reading, writing, spelling, phonics, mathematics and study skills as well as SAT and ACT preparation to tens of thousands of students in kindergarten through 12th grade. Huntington prides itself on its unparalleled programs which specialize in helping parents, caregivers and educators identify the gaps in skills and knowledge that can limit learning potential, and in providing a personalized program of instruction to enable children to excel.
The honorable award presented by FranNet captures the essence of the Huntington mission statement: “To give every student the best education possible.” Huntington achieves this mission through partnerships with affiliates such as FranNet, and especially with employees and franchisees throughout the United States. Huntington awarded 66 new franchises during 2006, in addition to the 50 new franchises awarded during 2005. The demand for supplemental education services is high and the unique programs offered by Huntington have proven to be valuable and successful for students of all ages.
Huntington Learning Centers are now operating in 41 states including the District of Columbia, with 34 company-owned centers in the New York tri-state metropolitan area.
Huntington’s recent growth has been fueled by the rising number of parents and families seeking effective tutoring for students facing difficulties in meeting increasingly rigorous academic standards, and also with the implementation of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2002. Since 1998, the supplemental education services industry has grown at a compounded annual rate of nearly 12 percent, reaching $6 billion in 2004.
“Today’s parents and caregivers recognize that they are consumers of education. They want to be assured that their children are receiving all the support they need to reach their academic potential,” said Huntington Learning Center Chief Executive Officer J.J. Sorrenti. “One of our key goals over the next several years is to become even more responsive to the marketplace, so that we can impact the lives of even more students nationwide.”
Huntington educators have also been encouraged by independent third party evaluations of Huntington’s particular attributes in the industry. In 2006 Huntington Learning Center was selected for inclusion in the 2006 edition of Bond’s Top 100 Franchises. Published annually, Bond’s Top 100 Franchises chose Huntington based on historical performance, brand identification, market dynamics, operator satisfaction, the level of initial training and on-going support, financial stability and other key factors. More than 500 franchises were evaluated for the rankings.
Also during 2006, Huntington was named by The Wall Street Journal’s StartUpJournal.com as one of the top 25 high-performing brands. As the only supplemental education services organization included on the list, Huntington Learning Center was lauded for criteria that include well-experienced leadership, strong financial health and a proven record of franchising success.
